Lakeshore Foster Families & Friends of Manitowoc County is a 501(c)3 IRS designated nonprofit organization with an all-volunteer workforce supporting foster children and foster/kinship families by raising awareness and providing much needed and deserved resources and support. Before our inception two years ago, there was an extreme gap in services for this selfless segment of our community. Caregivers were missing the essential support services they needed to answer their calling to care for our most vulnerable children.
Our group was founded in mid-2018 by Jay and Karie Kobel, long-time foster parents. They were inspired by the compelling need to improve the lives of the many foster children and families involved in the child welfare system. Far too many of these children are not thriving or finding permanency.
We step in to help foster and kinship families and children. Our goal is to make sure every placement provider has the resources they need to give children a safe and loving home. We hope to improve the experience of these kids in every way we can. We are here to assist, provide resources, and show our respect because foster and kinship families deserve it.
